On Saturday 19th October, we celebrated our very first online World Singing Day at Choirs4Kids. This special day, celebrated annually on the third Saturday of October, brings together singers of all ages to unite through the power of music.
The Origins of World Singing Day
World Singing Day was founded by Scott Johnson in 2012 with a mission: to encourage people around the globe to come together and celebrate the joy of singing. This initiative has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, inspiring communities to join in song.
Previously…in Perth
In previous years, we ran some really big events for World Singing Day in Yagan Square, Perth.
We had around 2000 singers join us for these events which were really incredible.
Sadly, times changed and organising big events like those are a thing of the past for me.
Happily though, we have online and we LOVE that we can bring World Singing Day to children around the world.
This Year’s Event
This year, our online World Singing Day event brought together kids from Australia, Philippines, Kenya, Malaysia and the UK. What a beautiful mix of voices and culture.
Throughout the event we sang our hearts out and added in some games such as ‘best crazy hat’, ‘best dance moves’. It was so much fun to see what the kids came up with.
The smiles on their faces as they sang really showed how amazing music can be. It reminds us how music can make us happy, help us make friends, and feel like we belong. As the kids laughed, danced, and sang together, it was obvious that this day was about so much more than just music—it was about having fun and connecting with each other.
A Global Celebration
World Singing Day is awesome because people celebrate it in so many different ways all over the world! From big community events to cozy family sing-alongs, each celebration is super special.
Looking back on our online event, we’re thrilled with how it turned out! A huge thank you to all the kids and parents who joined in and made this year’s World Singing Day so amazing!
