how do the students sing together Online?

They don’t sing together all the time due to internet latency.   To reduce the chances of audio and video delays :

  • We sing together muted in our Online sessions.
  • We provide opportunities for the students to sing solo and demonstrate parts of their learning.
  • We also have fun and try the singing together ‘un-muted’ for some suitable songs.  However – the technology to allow us to sing together at the same time doesn’t exist yet and so most of our singing is whilst the students are ‘muted’.
  • It is quite easy to tell if they kids are singing the right song even when they are muted and we check in often to ask them to share their singing with us.
My child has additional needs, can they sing with you?

We have many years of experience working with young people with additional needs, both in school environments and online.

We accept all neurodivergent persons in our online programs and individual lessons. We work closely with families and carers to ensure needs are met as best we can.

We have found that the online environment works amazingly well for these young people.

We do offer places in our In Person program for children with additional needs too. However it does depend on the current group of singers as to which group we may recommend for your child.

We recently completed a course about Neurodiversity Affirming Practice.

  • I have attended numerous vocal trainings all over the globe thanks to our new virtual world!
  • I am continuing my own journey of learning by taking voice lessons.
  • I am currently undertaking a coaching course and NLP (neuro linguistic programming) training.
will it help my child be happy?
  • I really hope it will!
  • Our experience so far with the Online classes have shown that the students are really engaged, loving the connection and having lots of fun.  Read some testimonials on google or facebook.
can parents watch?

Online:

  • We request that you, parent/guardian or older child, leave your child to sing with us without you on screen. You are more than welcome to sing but by staying off screen it allows us the best opportunity to help build the confidence of our singers.  Many young people who join have less confidence when they feel like they are being watched.
  • For our In Person program, parents are welcome to stay and join in the for the first session. After that, we request you wait outside so that we can practice all things singing and share with you at the end of term!
A quick note about behaviour

We understand that sometimes young people’s behaviour is up and down. We can tolerate some minor poor behaviour moments however we will not tolerate behaviour that is disruptive to the rest of the class (online and in person).

We also remind all families that we are human too and being nice to everyone helps the world go round 🙂

Abusive, angry behaviour from anyone to anyone in our space will not be tolerated and the child or adult involved will be asked to leave.
